What are On-grid and Off-grid systems
Solar power systems are of two types one is on-grid and other is
off-grid systems. Which one is better to use and how it works? Read here
to know which grid system is best fits to your home.
On-grid or grid-tied solar power systems generate energy when it
is connected to the local utility grid. In order to function these
systems are connected to the grid. When you are overproducing power,
these on grid systems send extra generated power back to the grid that
helps you reserve it for later use. Here your utility system itself acts
as your battery storage it means these systems works without batteries.
Here grid interactive inverter plays a major role. The inverter converts
DC current produced by the solar panels into AC current which is
required to power your home. That means energy freely passes from
renewable source to the utility system via grid interactive inverter.
If, the renewable source produces more energy with your system than you
need the excess electricity you are not consuming is sent back to your
utility grid’s company. In this way, you can earn money by selling your
excess energy to the utility company. At the same time when your system
is not producing energy, you can retrieve energy from utility grid with
the help of inverter.
Benefits:
1) Electricity grid works without battery and saves the cost of battery here
2) Can earn money directly from your rooftop by sending extra current to the utility company
The off-grid solar power system is independent of grid, instead, a
wide range of equipment is needed for example solar panels, solar power
controllers, solar cables, battery, off grid inverter etc. The off-grid
solar system helps you to save energy in a device called a battery.
During the daytime energy produced by the renewable source can be sent
into batteries as well as supplied to your home. The energy stored in
the battery can be used later, during the night or on a cloudy day.
The power generated by the solar panels initially charges the battery
with the help of charge controller. DC current supplied to the inverter
can be converted into AC current which is used for household appliances.
Sometimes your renewable source over-produce energy these can be stored
in the battery and use it later.
Benefits:
1) In case of regular back outs, the off-grid system is very suitable
2) These are less expensive when compared with on-grid where utility wire to be stretched to property
3) These systems provide efficient power which benefits the environment
Moreover, in all locations, On-grid system is not suitable, of course,
all say Off-grid solar systems are costly for the equipment like
battery, inverter etc. But in real Off-grid solar are still cheaper than
paying to be connected to the grid.
However, the choice of the system lies with you. We offer Off-grid installation services with warranty schemes.
